D&D we know it for the combat and the roleplay but one of my favourite aspects is the room for puzzles. So I want to know, what is the best puzzle you have faced or have made your players face?

I once had a group try to solve Fermat's Last Theorem. There was a TPK and that's why I don't DM anymore.

I had a bottomless pit in a room, with pillars that acted as stepping stones to the other side. In simple writing on a carved stone it said, "How does the soldier walk?"
They didn't figure it out, so I had them make intelligence checks and roleplay out how their characters figured it out.
The answer was, "Left, left, left, right, left,"
