This is going to be problematic.
I put the infected into a quarantine zone, and have the scientists in hazmat suits studying the patients to try and develop a cure.

I have some spearmen search for some clue as to the illness. I haven't even begin to reach a good spot before plague. This is going to be too much of an issue if I can't identify it.

I get the spearmen out there anyways. I don't know much about my surroundings, and it is a major help to know when a nomad race or something passes through.
