Case The Case of the Jacques Street Murder
Victims 6 murdered, numbers may grow.
Time It is currently March 22nd, 1964. First murder occurred January 29th, 1964. It is currently afternoon.
Knowledge Only what the newspapers have provided. Six murders. No relation. All identical. The method of the murders, the possible suspects, and the progress on the case have all been kept confidential from the public. Contact may provide you with necessary information. You may also want to ask your Father in the event of inconsistencies, and for filling up holes in the police reports.
Flyer Sent To The Police Department
The Gossipers Contact: Jack Gamin In the alley behind the diner named Joe's on Luther Street Black coat with a white patch on the breast Muhammad Ali's original name was Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.
Roleplay
The smells that perfumed the diner Joe's were of delicious sloppy joes and fries. A strong of grease was also there. The skies were gray, bringing with them a light drizzle. You busted two teens trying to take a smoke, and helped a dog get out of a dumpster, all while waiting for that man that Father had told you was coming.
Sounds like footsteps stepping in puddles were heard. You turned to see a man in a black coat, white patch. Must be the detective who picked up the flyer.

I beckon him a little closer with a wave of my hand. When he's in proper range where I don't have to shout, I ask, "What was Muhammad Ali's real name?"

"I hope it was Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. You the gossiper? Name's Gregory Black. Look, while I've heard you guys like to keep things under wraps, I got somewhere to be right now and I need to take you along with me. Gotta car we can drive?"
Detective You have met with a detective named Gregory Black. He seems to be a busy man, and a very blunt one at that. He doesn't talk like New Yorker, and while you heard neighboring cities sent some detectives to help with the investigation, he doesn't seem even be from this state.

"Yeah, I'm the gossiper. I got a car alright; just let it be known I'm not some kinda personal taxi service, alright?" I say in response. I'd rather stay here and talk, but that's obviously not going to happen.

"Understandable, you don't have to worry about it. We just don't have a lot time and I can't let anyone know you're in on this case, or anything about it for that matter. Well, lead the way, I have some files I need to show you and things I must discuss. If I'm right, there may be a seventh and possibly final murder by the day after tomorrow leading to a cold and dead trail and I'll be damned if I sit back and allow that."

"Follow me." I lead the man out of the alley and into the parking lot of the restaurant, my hand reaching into my pocket to grab a hold of my keys as I walk.

"Follow me." I lead the man out of the alley and into the parking lot of the restaurant, my hand reaching into my pocket to grab a hold of my keys as I walk. Gregory stands outside the passenger door, saying, "I hope you don't mind this, sir, but I wasn't suppose to contact you. The department doesn't want your group in on the case. 'Too problematic', they say. 'We mustn't let amateur vigilantes like them in', they say. Lucky for you, I happen to exist with a rather different perspective. Of course, speaking about that, I forgot to ask for your name. It's on the paper, of course, but I'd feel rude if I didn't ask for your name in person."

Unlocking the car, I say, "It's a bit of a shame how little trust is put into me and my colleagues, but at least we don't get enough attention to have a hate-base on most occasions." I sit down in my driver's seat and continue. "My name's Jack, which short for nothing." I hold out my hand, offering a shake before I start up the car.

He shakes it as he sits down, and then opens his coat. Sewed in on the inside was a pocket containing a massive pile of files. As he takes out the mass, you notice the first file has a label that looks hand written on it.
Satan's Hand
"I guess I'll get started then. I know the start of the and the man guilty of the start. Dean Seth Wallace. When he first popped up on the map 18 years ago he was 23, so I guess he'll be 41 now."

"It was my first job as a detective, and the only one that threw my career in jeopardy. It starts back in Florida, 18 years ago. Murders like these happened all over the state. I just got hired, and before I knew about I was assigned to this case. I managed to get a lead, and the cops busted a group of 13 college boys. Nine were arrested. Four escaped. I find out in a newspaper murders like those were happening in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, slowly heading westward along the southern border of the US. Three of the escapees were already found, and so I knew that the killer was the fourth. That was Dean, Jack. I couldn't go after him working for the Florida department, so I quit my job and chased him across the whole of America, up until California, where he killed a bunch Asians and disappeared entirely. I was lucky. I took a train back to Florida and they gave me my job back. But I never stopped searching for this man. The murders here are almost the same as they were back then, with only one difference to note: Dean and his buds only ever killed colored people. In the New York case, however, whites are listed amongst the victims."

"Huh," I say as I process what all he said. "Why do you think that is?" Every good investigator knows that a motive is an exponentially important part of solving the crime. "If he only killed colors back in the day, it was probably racial discrimination, but if it's still him now, why would he kill whites, too?"

"My theory? He's a copycat killer. I won't deny the possibility that Dean could be the one responsible, but I noticed that the more Dean killed, the more easily and flawlessly he could do it. This is like watching him go back to square one. I mean, it's been 18 years, but surely this man wouldn't be that rusty. Even still, either option is disturbing. I thought he ran off to Asia when I lost him in Cali, and so the idea that he's been hiding in New York, waiting, just waiting, to kill again... And the thought that there might be someone else willing to imitate him. And the motive, I really can't discern it. Dean was the son of a rich farm owner, a man who had a lot of sharecroppers under him. If it stuck to that pattern, I mean, dear god, things would be so much easier. Lets get moving. Take a left when you reach the intersection."
Knowledge (Updated) There have been six murders, starting with the Jacques Street murder. All of them identical, with no apparent connection. Gregory seems to believe this is related to a similar case from 18 years ago, a murder spree from a mister Dean Wallace. He also theorizes that this may be a copycat killer instead of the original. He also expressed concerns of a future seventh murder and a possible cold trail afterwards. As of now, you have still to know the method of the killing and the details behind Dean and the victims, but you also find yourself being dragged by him to a location, a possible lead.

I start driving, following the directions he tells me, meanwhile stating my opinion. "I think it may more likely that it's a copycat killer. Of my experience with criminals, it seems to me that crime is like riding a bycicle- You just don't forget it."

"Oh, all sorts of reasons," I suppose, "Some people do it out of lust, some for greed, some for money. Others want revenge, and some do it out of pure anger or insanity. And then of course, for necesity, defense, or self-preservation... And then there's those who- Hey, why don't I stop going on and on. Why did you ask?

"It's something that was asked of me long ago, something I haven't forgotten. Your reasons are all valid, but they don't apply to Dean. If he's the one behind this, or if the copycat is anything like him, you'll understand that even racial discrimination or insanity is just their logical excuse for evil. Dean just killed colors because it was easier to say and accept that he was a racist, but the truth that pervaded everyone but me and him was that he was bored of living a simple life, and needed a new kick," he sighs until something catches his eye. "See that house, right there? Stop right there, that's our location."

"This is the house of a miss Tina Wells, the widow of Hunter Wells, who was victim number four in the New York case. I've come to ask her some questions, but since she is related to one of the much more interesting victims I decided to bring you along, and I will also, kindly, ask of you to keep tabs on what she's saying. Most of the six victims were all criminals, thugs nobody would miss. There are two, however, who were not so low in society. Hunter Wells was a white, and an official in the church. Too much noise would come out of this death, not something Dean or the copycat would usually want, not with the state of their killing. Of course, there may be another reason he was killed. Hunter Wells is the brother of the late Abraham Wells, one of the victims that fell to Dean when I was chasing him around Texas. There are too many absurdities here, and I think Hunter may be a gem of this case, and our biggest clue. I decided as such to talk to Tina about her husband," he says, a deep breath following after that. "Well, ready Jack?"

You two approach the door. Gregory knocks on the door.
"Coming!"
A woman in her mid 30's pops her head out. Her makeup is a little thick, but it doesn't seem to hide her puffy eyes well. This woman spent some time crying.
"Yes?"
"My name is Gregory Black, and this is Jack Gamin. We're from the New York Police Department. We'd like to ask you some questions."
"I already gave a testimony to the department..."
"Yes, but we two just arrived on the case. I decided I'd like to try interviewing you myself. May we come in?"
"Uh... Sure. I was just about to make some coffee. Would you like some?"
"I'm good, how bout you Jack?"
