A giant crystalline insect with several crystal spiders riding on its back lands near the coast. The spiders curiously begin to explore with their primitive stone foraging tools.

The Spodrs are non-hostile, peering at the troops in wonder and taking a step back. They are wary, but carry no weapons save for their mandibles and their blunt stone axes for chopping trees. They are clearly a young species.
One begins to speak, but its clicking and screeching requires translation.
