"We don't understand, robotic friend. We haven't done anything to antagonize you, nor have you done anything to antagonize us. Unless..." The greeter's eyes narrowed, "You've had dealings with birm."

"We have no intent on making the spodrs into pawns or anything of the sort. We don't have any vassals, or pawns, or people who live under us and do not wish to. The grapes and demons in our territory are perfectly happy."

"Well that was weird. Well, we're glad you aren't associated with birm. That... I'm not sure what he now, he keeps mutating himself, he has ways of influencing people somehow. Maybe it's mind control with demonic powers, I don't know. But he turns them against us, makes them hate us, all because we beat him in a war. He wants revenge, and he wants it bad."

"This is some very conflicting information." "We must return to our home to ponder these new beings, as well as ponder that balloon, and the machine, and that ghost guy." They hop back onto their fly. "May your purposes be enacted, dome-people." And they zippy away

Build anti-air weapons on the edges of our flying cities, outside the domes, to protect them. We take no risks for our people.
Continue research into neural links.
Have the priests converted the sand biters to vammyism?

With neural links we can basically upload a person into a server, and then install controls in mechanized units so our people can control units they are assigned to from the server. It's robots, but without the robot part. And the best part: if the machine is destroyed, the person isn't, and they just go back to the main server. And we can safely install self destruct mechanisms that can only be activated by the controller so no enemy can take our tech.
So basically we're turning people into AI, but who are still people. We're creating virtual civilization, starting with the military.

No
they're the next stage of civilization
but think of it this way: all our people are robots, and if we can't make robots for them to live in, then we're dead
and before you ask, no, I can't clone a person over the neural link, because brains can't be copy-pasted.

Fine. We will do as vammy says and halt research into neural linkage.
NOW WE START RESEARCH INTO NEURAL BONDAGE! AHAHAHAHAHA! MIND CONTROL YES AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mind control is fair as longs it's not used in battle

Woohooo.
but neural bondage is basically the same as neural linkage except with actual bodies instead of machine ones.
so to do it we upload one of our own people into the body of our victim. makes for excellent spies. and I'm pretty sure we can also bond a bunch of people to a single mind, so that one person effectively gives mental orders to the group and they have to do it. mind control is awesome.
